An anti-ageing skincare range without the exorbitant price tag: DCSNUTRIDERM | REVIEW

Since my discovery of DCS' AQUADERM range, I couldn't stop using the ampoule, and it wasn't long before I used up the whole bottle! I was pleasantly surprised  with the positive results (skin appeared more radiant and hydrated) given the affordable price tag, which is of course a great thing for my wallet! Well today, I am glad to introduce another range of DCS to you - NUTRIDERM.
"From the brand that harnesses the volcanic power of Jeju, DCS helps you embrace the youthful and dewy skin of Korean women with its anti-ageing range, NUTRIDERM. Keeping away fine lines with the powerful anti-ageing properties of the rare Korean ginseng berry, this NUTRIDERM range is gentle on the skin and kind on the wallet."

{ Star Ingredient }

The star ingredient this time is, as mentioned above, the rare Korean ginseng berry. Take note that ginseng berry is different from ginseng root - the former is more rare and provides better benefits to the skin.

A couple benefits of Korean ginseng berry:
- Contains high concentration of ginsenosides (twice the number as compared to the more well-known and frequently used ginseng root) which have excellent anti-oxidant properties
- Increases the hyaluronic acid found in one's skin cells

Do You Know?
The Korean ginseng berry can only be harvested once every 4 years over a 7-day period.

Can you believe that? Together with its powerful anti-oxidant properties, it's no wonder this fruit is such a prized ingredient, especially in Korean skincare.

With all that said, let's dive into the individual products.

Ultra Nutrition Toner

My Thoughts:
I was so happy to see the ginseng berry, the range's star ingredient, located at the top of the ingredient list! Niacinamide, another great ingredient, is also found at the top. If you notice the bottom of the list, even ginseng root has been added to the toner (as well as the other DCS NUTRIDERM products), albeit a very small amount. Ingredients aside, I love the emulsion-like consistency of this toner, and my skin actually feels more hydrated immediately. However, as it has a slightly sticky after-feel, I prefer to use this toner at night. Because of the fairly high concentration of ginseng berry, this toner, as with the rest of the products from this range, does smell of ginseng. The scent does take some getting used to, but hey, it's good for your skin! The smell goes away after a while, so it doesn't bother me too much.

2. DCS NUTRIDERM
Ultra Nutrition Ampoule
S$53.00 / 30ml

My Thoughts:
DCS has done it again, guys - I really like this ampoule, as I do with the ampoule from their AQUADERM range as well! On days when I'm in a rush, this is all I use before putting on my sunblock, and I honestly feel this alone is able to provide enough hydration for my oily, dehydrated skin. This consistency is somehow a little thinner and milkier as compared to the toner, so I'm fine with using this ampoule during daytime. With anti-oxidants packed in this ampoule thanks to the ginseng berry, it's good to use it during the day to protect the skin against environmental aggressors and free radicals too. To that, I say, "Yes please!".

3. DCS NUTRIDERM
Ultra Nutrition Day Cream SPF20 PA+
S$41.00 / 50ml

Description:

Ingredients:

Texture:

My Thoughts:
Because of my oily skin, I am unfortunately not a fan of this day cream as it provides a dewy finish. With that said, you will most probably like it if you have normal-dry skin; my mum has this skin type and she finds this cream very comfortable on her skin throughout the day. As with the ampoule, this moisturiser will protect one's skin from harmful environmental aggressors. Of course, let's not forget the added bonus of SPF20 PA+ in this day cream!

4. DCS NUTRIDERM
Ultra Nutrition Night Cream
S$41.00 / 50ml

Description:

Ingredients:

Texture:

My Thoughts:
Even though this is a night cream, I personally feel that the texture of this is just a tad lighter than the day cream. It's still very moisturising nonetheless, and my skin feels well-moisturised (maybe even a bit too moisturised, haha) despite me sleeping in an air-conditioned room. However, because of my oily skin once again, I noticed that I cannot apply this every single night - I applied this for 3 consecutive nights and woke up to a couple new pimples on the 3rd and 4th day. I switched to using it every 2-3 nights and it solved my breakout issue. In fact, there was this one night my skin felt a bit itchy and looked a little more red than usual, but the symptoms disappeared the next day, and I attribute it the work of this night cream.

{ My Final Thoughts }

Overall, I really appreciate the high anti-oxidant properties of the whole DCS NUTRIDERM range. I'm sure I'd be the biggest fan of the entire range if I had normal-dry skin. Nonetheless, my oily skin still loves the toner and ampoule! Another impressive ingredient that can be found in the DCS NUTRIDERM range is the ferulae mushroom. I did a little research of this power fungus, and it has been proven to be very beneficial to the skin, such as facilitating collagen synthesis, preventing ageing, whitening skin and reducing skin irritation. If you're looking to invest in an anti-ageing range but with a modest price tag (I mean, anti-ageing skincare products typically cost a ton of money), the DCS NUTRIDERM range is truly one you should consider, especially when the products are packed with premium ingredients despite the affordability.

This range gets a big thumbs-up from me, especially if you have normal-dry skin and are looking to invest in a new range of anti-ageing skincare products.
